It is said that there are three regions including the North, the Middle and the South in Vietnam. This division is very easy to help all who image to Vietnam at least in the mind before visiting.
What is the useful things for you if you know about the main points relating to the regions in Vietnam? It is sure that it helps you so much in your travelling, also the chance to explore the country entirely.




For the North, you may know clearly that the capital Ha Noi is in there. It may be the sign for you to define its improtance to the country. The North has its three main areas including the north west with Lao Cai Province and its famous town named Sapa, other specific places belong to the highland as Dong Van Highland, Bac Ha, Ta Phinh, Moc Chau, Sin Chai etc; the north east with Quang Ninh Province and its popular city called Ha Long, and then the Red River Delta with Ha Noi Capital. Focus in the main detail as above, it may be easier for you to remember to the North. If you visit the North, there are also some nice features of this region. You may be interesting with the image of the woman in “Ao tu than” – the traditional costume that women wear and their hat called “Non quai thao” or the peach flowers be sympbol of the spring and existed in the North only. Beside you can see the colorful costumes of the ethnic people in the north west. They are considered one of the best figures to people who come to visit the highland here.



To the Middle, it is not so difficult to understand that there are three famous destinations to all visitors as Hue, Hoi An and Da Nang. Although the Middle has its three main areas including the central north, the highland and the central south, but visitors usually don not need to define that and just keep in the mind about the specific places with Hue City, Hoi An Ancient Town and Da Nang city. Beside, there are cities that get your attention as Nha Trang City, Phan Thiet City with Mui Ne Beach and some impressive destinations located in the central highland as Lam Vien Highland with Da Lat city, Kon Tum, Mang Den, Pleiku and Dak Lak. For the symbol of the Middle, you will see the beauty of the “Ao dai” that the woman wear, especially the purple dress as the traditional feature of Hue women and become the representative element for the attraction of the Middle.



Relating to the South of Vietnam, the best thing to remember that Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta are two main factors. Ho Chi Minh City is on the the South East together with Vung Tau city – the famous beach city is located far from Ho Chi Minh City about 100km. And then the Mekong Delta belongs to the South West with its many attractive destinations as My Tho City in Tien Giang province, Can Tho City, Chau Doc in An Giang province, Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang province,…In the South, it is different from the Middle or the North, one of the symbols of the southern beauty is the women in “ao ba ba” with long sleeved shirt and pair of pants. One more special symbols of the South is the yellow apricot blossom – the flower of the spring in the country but it is only in the South. The Tet Holiday means the spring time, the yellow apricot blossoms fascinate you strongly. So, in the case that you intend to visit the South of Vietnam in the Tet time, don’t hesitate to do.   




Sometimes you will meet the very details and complex information in the division of regions in Vietnam geography or economic area, but don’t worry about that. For travelling in Vietnam, just keep in your mind the big cities or specific places, also the specific and beautiful symbols that very easy to remember, it is sure that to help you know soon what the region they belong to.
