Bac Ha

Located in the north east of Lao Cai Province, Bac Ha is one of the great destinations to all people who love the highland in the North, Vietnam. Called “the white highland”, Bac Ha Town is covered by the white plum blossoms each year and it becomes the romantic sight that strongly attracts people to come to visit.

How to get in

Bac Ha Town is far from Lao Cai nearly 80km and from Ha Noi about 300km. You can take a bus from Ha Noi to Bac Ha or take a train from Ha Noi to Lao Cai with visiting Sapa and then take a bus to Bac Ha.

If you know some things relating to Sapa, of course you will see the same as in Bac Ha Town for your visiting the town. You can take a motobike trip or hire a local drive for your exploring the town around.

There are some famous places where you may love to discover as Hoang A Tuong Castle which was built in 1914, Ban Pho where owns the local famous corn liquor, Hang Tien with the cave and spring related to interested legends, Bac Ha Temple was built in 19^th century. Especially, there is the fair in Bac Ha happens each Sunday. This is one of the most impressive fair in the town with local specific features that impress you so much.

The weather

Bac Ha is located in the high of 1.000m to 1.500 of the sea level, so the climat here is so good around the year. The temperature is about 25C degree and you do not worry about the weather in the town.

The best time for your trip to Bac Ha Town is the spring from January to March with the white plum blossoms covered the town. In the case you come to the town from June to August, you have chance to join some local festivals here as Horse Racing Festival, Bac Ha Temple Festival. If not, for weekend tours, this will be the great time for you to visit the fair in the town each Sunday.

For food: Bac Ha has its speciality is the bacon that so famous in Lao Cai. You can find different dishes from the bacon with local special flavour. The other local specialities are the sticky rice with its 7 colors belongs to Hung Din People, the plums, the truffles and bamboo shoots, ect.
