Vietnam Cities

For anyone who cares about the destinations in the travelling, love to know where are located and what are cities or provinces that the destnations belong to. So, if you concern to the tours in Vietnam, the list of cities and provinces with their specific features are very useful.

As in the topic Vietnam Region, you may know how it is easy to image to the land of Vietnam with the North, the Middle and the South generally. However in this topic, the list of cities will be mentioned more detail. This information is a highlight for you to take note before the tour.

There are 5 cities that be  central municipalities in Vietnam. They are Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Da Nang and Hai Phong:

1. Ha Noi: the capital of Vietnam, you may know it of course. It is in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam and plays very important role of the cultural, economic and polictic fields.
2. Ho Chi Minh City: the biggest city in Vietnam, located in the South of the country. This is the modern city with its economic development strongly.
3. Can Tho City: The city is in the Southeast of Vietnam. It is far from Ho Chi Minh City about 220km and be the important city in the Mekong Delta with its convinient transportation to other areas in Mekong Delta.
4. Hai Phong City: called the harbour city located in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam and far from Ha Noi about 102km.  
5. Da Nang City: the strong developed and young city in the Middle. It is located in the central position between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City and the third biggest city beside these two cities.

There are 58 provincial cities belong to the provinces in Vietnam:

1.      Ha Giang City in Ha Giang Province,  in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-19; famous with destination as Meo Vac District, Dong Van highland, Yen Minh District and Quang Ba District. You can find the wonderful features relating to ethnic culture here.

2.      Tuyen Quang City in Tuyen Quang Province,  in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-27; well known with the historical site named Tan Trao that far from the centre about 14km in the northeast of the city.

3.      Lao Cai City in Lao Cai Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-20; well known with some famous towns and districts as Bac Ha, Sapa,…

4.      Dien Bien Phu in Dien Bien Province, in the Northwest of the country: local code 84-23; well known with Dien Bien battle that played very important role in the fighting for independence of the country in the history. There are different sites that famous in this land as Ham Lam – Hong Cum, A1 Hill,…Beside many ethnic groups live here as Thai ethnic group, H’mong ethnic group, Tay and Nung ethnic groups.

5.      Son La in Son La Province,  in the Northwest of the country: local code 84-22; the city  is famous with the tea farm named Moc Chau that was built in 1958.

6.      Yen Bai in Yen Bai Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-29; is famous with Mu Cang Chai District.

7.      Hoa Binh in Hoa Binh Province, in the Northwest of the country: local code 84-18; well known by some attractive destinations as Mai Chau Valley, Da River, Ma River and sepcialities as “com lam”, baked meat and can alcohol – local drink.

8.      Thai Nguyen in Thai Nguyen Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-280; is famous with Nui Coc Lake that fas 2.500ha in its width. There are some small islands in this lake for tourists’s holiday.

9.      Lang Son in Lang Son Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-25; it is not far form the border with Chinese. This area is famous with Nhi Thanh and Tam Thanh caves and some great mountains as Tam Thanh, Vong Phu mountains.

10.  Ha Long in Quang Ninh Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-33; well known with Ha Long Bay – the heritage of the world.

11.  Mong Cai in Quang Ninh Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-33; well known with Mong Cai Border to Dong Hung Town, Chinese. This city is also well known with famous market named Mong Cai.

12.  Cam Pha in Quang Ninh Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-33; the city attracts many tourists by Tra Co Resort and Tra Co Beach. It is far from Ha Long about 30km.

13.  Uong Bi in Quang Ninh Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-33; well known with Yen Tu Pagoda and Yen Tu Mountain.

14.  Bac Giang in Bac Giang Province, in the Northeast of the country: local code 84-240; the city has its very famous lake named Cam Son Lake. It is far from Ha Noi about 100km and has it wisth about 2.600ha. Tourists come here to relax and go fishing.

16.  Vinh Yen in Vinh Phuc Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-21; well know with Ha Pagoda and then Vac Lagoon in which there are highclass hotel, Golf.

17.  Bac Ninh in Bac Ninh Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-241; there are famous sites in this city as But Thap Pagoda, Do Temple, Dong Ho Village, etc.

18.  Hai Duong in Hai Duong Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-32; well know with “dau xanh” cake ( green bean cake).

19.  Hung Yen in Hung Yen Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-321; the city has many pagodas, temple. There are famous villages here as Dong An Ancient Village, Dai Hong Village ( called Nom Hung Yen Village).

20.  Thai Binh in Thai Binh Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-36; the city is well known with Keo pagoda and also many temples.

21.  Phu Ly in Ha Nam Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-351; there are some attractive destinations as Cam Mountain, Ba Danh Pagoda, Luon Cave, Cam Kha Phong cave, ect.

22.  Nam Dinh in Nam Dinh Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-35; there is an ancient pagoda name Pho Minh here. The pagoda was built in 1305 and it is an wonderful site till now.

23.  Ninh Binh in Ninh Binh Province, in the Red River Delta, the North of Vietnam: local code 84-30; well known by Tam Coc – Bich dong caves and Ngo Dong Field that is very nice.

24.  Thanh Hoa in Thanh Hoa Province, in the North Central Coast: local code 84-37; well known by Sam Son Beach located far from the city about 16km, Ham Rong Bridge that connects the banks of Ma River with Ngoc Mountain in this side and Rong Mountain in the other side.

25.  Vinh in Nghe An Province, in the North Central Coast: local code 84-38; well known with the home town of Unlce Ho and Cua Lo Beach that far from the city about 20km.

26.  Ha Tinh in Ha Tinh Province, in the North Central Coast: local code 84-39; well known with Ke Go Lake with fascinating view and Huong Tich Pagoada – one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam.

27.  Dong Hoi in Quang Binh Province, in the North Central Coast: local code 84-52; well known with Dong Hoi Beach and Phong Nha Cave – one of the heritage of the world.

28.  Dong Ha in Quang Tri Province, in the North Central Coast: local code 84-53; well known with Vinh Moc tunnel and Cua Tung Beach. Also this is hometown of Nhu Quynh - one of famous singers who staying in U.S.A.

29.  Hue – Thua Thien Hue Province, in the North Central Coast: local code 84-54; well known by the historical sites because this land is the old imperial capital of the country. Also the land is attractive destination with the romantic Huong River, Thien Mu Pagoda and Truong Tien Bridge.

30.  Tam Ky in Quang Nam Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-510; well known with Chien Dan Tower, Phu Ninh Lake and Tam Thanh Beach.

31.  Hoi An in Quang Nam Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-510; the ancient town that is so famous to tourists. It is a wonderful destination that fascinating people by the calm view and the wonderful architecture from the wood houses.

32.  Quang Ngai in Quang Ngai Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-55; the land has its famous historical sites as Ba Gia, Tra Bong,..and this is hometown of famous people in the history and culture of Vietnam as Truong Dinh, Le Trung Dinh, Pham Van Dong,…and poets as Bich Khe, Te Hanh; the artress named Tra Giang, Truong Quang Luc, Nhat Sinh, ect. 

33.  Quy Nhon in Binh Dinh Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-56; well known with the old Twin Towers were built in 11^th Century, Ghenh Rang Tien Sa Site, Thi Nai Bridge and Hai Minh Fishing Village.

34.  Tuy Hoa in Phu Yen Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-57; the city is well known with Nhan Tower and Nhan Mountains.

35.  Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-58; the beach city with the wonderful beaches in the Central South.

36.  Phan Rang – Thap Cham in Ninh Thuan Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-68; well known with Ninh Chu Beach and specilites as grapefruit and galic.

37.  Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan Province, in the South Central Coast: local code 84-62; together with Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa, Phan Thiet is one of the best beach destination for beach holidays. It has Mui Ne Beach called resort area where located a hundred of resorts and hotels to serve tourists.

38.  Kontum in Kontum Province, in the Central Highland: local code 84-60; the city is well known as a new destination beside Da Lat City in the highland. There is Mang Den that is established as ideal area for the holidays because its weather and climat here so great. 

39.  Pleiku in Gia Lai Province, in the Central Highland: local code 84-59; the home of Cong Chieng Culture and specialities of the higland.

40.  Buon Ma Thuot in Dak Lak Province, in the Central Highland: local code 84-50; this city is considered the central city of the highland. Together with Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuat is attractive peolple by the specific culture of the highland and creates the best memory to all by the famous coffee flavour.

41.  Da Lat in Lam Dong Province, in the Central Highland: local code 84-63; of course this is the best city in Lam Vien Higland with its long developed tourism. It is called with different name as The Flower City, The Fog City by the city’s wonderful natural features. .

42.  Bao Loc in Lam Dong Province, in the Central Highland: local code 84-63; the city is far from Da Lat about 100km. It is well known with tea and coffee and avocadoes.

43.  Bien Hoa in Dong Nai Province, in the Southeast: local code 84-61; is well known by the Industrial Area that far from Ho Chi Minh City about 30km.

44.  Vung Tau in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, in the Southeast: local code 84-64; the beach city is far from Ho Chi Minh City about 100km. This is nice beach city for weekend holidays.

45.  Ba Ria in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, in the Southeast: local code 84-64; is far from Vung Tau City about 20km. This city is well known with seafood although it does not shape in tourism. 

46.  Tan An in Long An Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-72; this is not tourist city but it has very important role in transportation to connect Ho Chi Minh City with the other cities in the Southwest. 

47.  My Tho in Tien Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-73; the city is well known with all tourists who love to come Mekong Delta with famous destination as Dong Tam Snake Farm, Thoi Son Islet and some romantic views from the city to Tien River.

48.  Ben Tre in Ben Tre Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-75; is well known by the coconut and its products, also orchard gardens and pot plants, bonsai, ect. 

49.  Tra Vinh in Tra Vinh Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-74; the city is far from Ho Chi Minh City about 200km. This city is well known with pagodas of Khmer paople.

50.  Vinh Long in Vinh Long Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-70; well known with Vinh Sang Farm – the best village to serve tourists who love to come for short holiday in Mekong Delta.

51.  Cao Lanh in Dong Thap Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-67; well known with Gao Giong Eco-Tourism Area.

52.  Long Xuyen in An Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-76; well know with Long Xuyen floating market, Ong Bac pagoda is 100 year old from the day of establishing by Chinese who came to settle in Long Xuyen.

53.  Chau Doc in An Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-76; well known with Lady Xu Temple, Tan Chau Silk Village, Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb.

54.  Rach Gia in Kien Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-77; the city does not strong develop in tourism but it is the important stop for transportation to Phu Quoc with Rach Gia Airport and the wharf including Rach Gia and Rach Meo.

55.  Vi Thanh in Hau Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-71; well know with Nga Bay – Phung Hiep floating market and Lung Ngoc Hoang Natural Reserve.

56.  Soc Trang in Soc Trang Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-79; well known with Doi Temple ( Bat Temple) and Khmer culture with its specific features.

57.  Bac Lieu in Bac Lieu Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-781; well known with the house of Bac Lieu Dasher and Bac Lieu Bird Sanctuary. 

         58.  Ca Mau in Ca Mau Province, in the Mekong Delta: local code 84-780; well know with U Minh Forest, Ca Mau Cape and Ca Mau Bird Sanctuary.
